Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 03, 2026

1. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. ProBackup uses them to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences, and to understand how the service is used. This policy explains which cookies we set, why we set them, and how to control them.

2. Categories of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary

These cookies are required for ProBackup to function and cannot be disabled. They cover authentication, session continuity, CSRF protection and load balancing.

  • Session and authentication — keep you signed in across pages and protect account actions such as password changes and checkout.
  • CSRF token — a token cookie paired with form submissions to prevent cross-site request forgery.
  • Load balancing — remember which application server handled your request so you stay on the same instance.

Analytics

These cookies help us understand which pages and features are used so we can prioritise improvements. They are optional and only set with your consent.

  • Aggregated page views, referrer and general location to measure adoption of the dashboard and restore tooling.
  • Feature usage counters so we can see which integrations and reports are actually relied on.

Marketing

These cookies are used to measure the effectiveness of our own advertising and email campaigns. They are optional and only set with your consent.

  • Campaign attribution so we know which channels bring new sign-ups.
  • Retargeting and conversion tracking across our marketing pages.

3. How Long We Keep Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are kept for the duration of your session or for as long as needed to keep you signed in. Analytics and marketing cookies are short-lived, typically expiring within 30 days. Where a cookie is stored beyond that period, it is used only in aggregated form.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by third parties we work with, and their use is governed by their own policies:

  • Creem — our Merchant of Record, which processes subscription payments and may set cookies to prevent payment fraud.
  • Connected app providers — when you authorise an OAuth connection, that provider may set its own cookies as part of its sign-in flow.
  • Support tooling — cookies used to rate and route support conversations.

5. How to Opt Out

You can control cookies in several ways:

  • Use the cookie preference control in ProBackup to accept or reject analytics and marketing cookies. Strictly necessary cookies always remain active.
  • Delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block third-party cookies and to clear existing ones.
  • Enable Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser; we honour these signals for analytics and marketing cookies.

Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in, changing your password, or completing a checkout. The rest of the site remains browsable.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced in-product or by email.
